Jai Shree Krishna to all Vallah Vaishnavs

As you wish Trushnaji... I just read a varta from 252 Vaishnavs: A mother, son and daughter-in-law

This varta is based on Shri Gusainji disciples, a mother, her son and the daughter in law.

In the lila, the mother is Shyama and her lila friend, the gopi Ramada appears here on earth as her son. The daughter-in-law's lila name is Shyama Sanehini. Her mind is always fixed upon Shri Krishna. She always wonders about intoxicated with devotion. For this reason everyone addresses her "Syama Sanehini", "The one who adores Krishna".

Once while Shri Gusainji once was travelling to Gujarat, the mother and son became Shri Gusainji's disciples. They imbibed from him the daily and festive seva practice and the bhakti master presented them with a Krishna swaroop. Their seva was full of love; Shri Krishna quickly blessed them with the experience of His Blissful Being.

The mother arranged for her son's marriage to a very simple-minded girl. When the mother brought her before Shri Gusainji for mantra initiation, she told her, "Repeat the mantra Shri Gusainji says to you." When Shri Gusainji invited them in and said, "Come and sit down", the girl immediately replied, "Come and sit down."

Shri Gusainji laughed and knew that she was very innocent. The bhakti mastered then whispered the mantra in her ear three times, "Shri Krishna is my refuge" and she repeated it back to him. He then told her mother, "Has your daughter-in-law helped you in the seva.”But she is a foolish girl. What can she understand of seva?"

"Krishna will teach her."

Initiation made her lila connection firm, now Shri Krishna will quickly bless her.

One day, the mother told her daughter-in-law, "Today, you adorn our Krishna. After you are finished, show him the mirror. If He smiles, you know He is pleased."

After the mother went to the river, the daughter-in-law adorned Shri Krishna and showed Him the mirror. When she did not see Him smile, she thought, "Krishna is not pleased with my seva."
She then took off all his vastra, shingar etc, and adorned Krishna again, but she did not see His smile. Only after she adorned Him eight times, Krishna finally smiled at her Laughing

It is shown that Krishna does not disclose anything unless there is deep desire and He created by making her adorn Him eight times. Her divine anguished created a profound longing which inspired Shri Krishna to shower His grace and smiled upon her.

From that day, Krishna often appeared to laugh and play with her and requested her to prepare specific things for Him. When her mother-in-law returned to the seva, when she sat down to adorn Krishna, she drifted into a light sleep and Krishna told her, "I prefer your daughter-in-law's hands for shingar etc. You should cook."

From that day, the daughter-in-law always adorned Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna continued to smile and play with her and blessed her with the experience of all lila nectars. The, mother, son, and daughter in law are all vessels of grace.

Now who will write the next varta Question

Pushtidasji please explain the bhav behind why the son had to be poisoned Confused

Jai Shree Krishna,
Whilst surfing the net i came across this website with many vartas and i thought i would share one. Ita a good web site so check it out Very Happy http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/2425/Vartas-index.htm#84%20Vaishnavs

Story No. 1 Padmanabhdasji was a renowned orator of Purans in the medieval city of Kanoj. So many people came to hear him at his own home, that he never had to leave his home to earn any money. When Acharya Shri Mahaprabhuji visited Kanoj, Padmanabhji visited him to pay his respects to him. Hearing Shri Vallabh recite the Bhagvat Puran, he was convinced that Shri Acharya was the Lord incarnate. He requested the Lord to make him his disciple. Graceful as he was, Shri Mahaprabhuji accepted him as his disciple and gave him the sacred brahmasambandha.

Later, during a personal audience with Shri Mahaprabhuji, Acharya Shri recited a shloka to him, which, in essence means, "One should not make money by selling the Lord's name. Lord's name should only be taken to gain His love." Reciting Shri Bhagvat Puran to make money comes in to this category. Being intelligent, Padmanabhdasji realised that this was Acharyaji's way of pointing out his mistakes and so took a vow never to recite any Purans to make money ! Shri Vallabh was taken aback by the suddenness of his new disciple's vow. "Padmanabh, if you do this, how will you make any money ? This is your livelihood ! True, you should not recite the Bhagvatam to make money, but you are allowed, by laws of the scriptures, to make money by reciting Itihaas (ancient histories) such as MahaBharata." But, Padmanabhji was unswerving in his resolve. He decided not to make any more money by telling kathas.

As a householder, he had no choice but to earn something to feed his family, so he decided to follow the traditional occupation of his caste and went to his Yajman (his chief host and financial supporter in the community) for some money. His Yajman was very honoured to receive such a distinguished brahmin in his house. With the greatest of respect, he gave Padmanabhdasji all the wealth he desired. But, Padmanabhji was perturbed that he was making money by the virtue of his caste, and no other merit of his own. This sort of high class begging was far too hurtful for his high morals.

When he decided to give up this sort of living, once again, Shri Mahaprabhuji, ever concerned about the spiritual and material well being of his disciples, asked him, how would he support his family now ? Once again, thinking of how to carry out his duties as a householder, without breaking the laws of the scriptures, he decided to start a business to support his family. He would sell cowry shells, wood etc to make enough money to provide the basic needs of the family. So great was his devotion to the Lord and the scriptures, that he left the life of luxury and etched out a meagre living rather than disobey the Lord.

Once, he asked Shri Mahaprabhuji to show him the greatness of the Lord Shri Krshna. Ever compassionate, Shri Vallabh asked him to visit him in Vraj to satisfy his ultimate desire. Ever obedient, Padmanabhji visited his Guruji in Vraj to witness and experience the greatness of the Lord. In Vraj, on the banks of the river Yamunaji, there is a small clearing in the forest near Mahavan, called Ramanrati. It is here that the gopies recited their famous Gopigeet and played raas with the Lord. When visiting this area with his Guruji, Padmanabhji saw a cliff face slide into the river and an enormous form of the Lord was revealed !! This form was as tall as 7 tala trees ! and it encompassed the entire Vraj and all the favourite sakhies of the Lord. Seeing the Lord in all his magnificence, Shri Vallabh said, "My Lord, in this age of Kali, this form of you is too great for anyone to worship ! Please reduce this form to a size more suitable for seva in this Yuga." Ever merciful, the Lord reduced his form to make it easy for Padmanabhji to worship Him. As this form encompassed the entire Vraj and the Lord's beloved companions, Shri Vallabh called Him "MathuraNathji" and gave Padmanabhji instructions on how to worship him. Padmanabhji returned to Kanoj with this great image of the Lord.
Written by Bhagwat Shah
This Varta tells the begginings of the story of Padmanabhdasji and explains how Shree Mathureshji's swaroop came about. For more info on the Nidhi swaroops look to http://www.parishadlondon.org.uk/id56.html
Lastly i just wanted to add i really like this varta because it has subtley describes ramanreti where Gopi geet took place.

Jai Shree Krishna,

Thankyou Trushaji and Palnaji, both are lovely varta's. Im going to put a varta on here that Pusthidasji once told us at satsang. Its not from 252 book but a varta of a gopi during the time of saraswatkalp. Hope you like it Trushnaji.

This varta is about a gopi called Indravaliji, she was a sakhi who was daring like Chandravaliji. Once Thakorji asked Indravaliji for some makhan and she refused to give it. He asked her several times and she would not budge, in the end Thakorji started crying and decided to get her back. He told her he would come to her house that night, break the pots and pans and eat all the makhan.

Indravaliji said we will see about that, she got all the sakhi's together and they made a plan to guard the house. They build a fortknox outside so Thakorji and his friends couldn't get in. Thakorji thought to himself that these sakhi's are very clever but I must find a solution. Guess what he did...........he turned himself into a sakhi and went towards the house.

He reached the front of the house and started going in, one of the sakhi's stopped him and asked where he is going. In a very sweet voice he said he was going to get some water. The sakhi's looked at each other and had a little private discussion as they had never seen this sakhi before so were in doubt. After their talk they told him to wait there and someone will fetch him some water. After Thakorji had his drink he thought how he could get into the house as it was very difficult to pass these sakhi's. Then suddenly he saw little Vishaka sakhi and winked at her and asked her to take him into the kitchen so he could put the glass away.

Innocent Vishaka saka fell for his charming plea and took him inside. As soon as Thakorji entered the room he jumped on the banister and went toward the rope with which the makhan was tied to. He climbed up to rope and started swaying toward all the pots and pans breaking everything in the house. All the gopi's realised it was Thakorji and they started screaming and running out of the house. Thakorji was eating away the makhan and kept breaking more pots. Indravaliji's sasu was screaming her head off and ordered him to come down, would our Kanha listen..................nope.

Finally Indravaliji's sasra got hold of him and took him by the ear and started walking towards Yashodaji's house, with one hand he was holding Thakorji and the other his stick. He was teling Thakorji on the way that he was going to get him told off so badly. As they reached Yashodaji's house he called out for her. She came out and looked shocked as it was quite late. He started complaining and told her she needs to watch her son as he has become too naughty and told her everything that had happened. Suddenly Thakorji appeared behind Yashodaji yawming, he was dressed in his night clothes and asked innocently what was happening and why this man was making so much noise.

Yashodaji hugged little kanha and started shouting at Indravaliji's sasra saying how dare you acuse my child when he was nicely in bed all this time. The sasra looked down at the boy who he was holding with his hand and to his amazement that was his own grandson. He was completely gobsmacked and started walking home being really embarrassed. As he was walking home he turned back and saw little Thakorji making faces at him. His face went red with anger but there wasn't anything he could do. Lol, poor man just carried on walking and complained to his family members when he reached home.

Imagine the cleaning up Indravaliji had to do at home, this was just the beginning for her....................

Jai Shri Krishna,

I knew toofani group will be hiding somewhere and doing their masti!
So I thought will check the satsang Tibari and Walla ! there you were hiding under 252 Vartas. Laughing

Here is small prasang of One Kshariya Lady from Mahavan

She had actually warned her parents that if she gets married then her husband will not live long and anyone forces her to get married will not live long too.

But under social pressure her parents had to get her married and immediately her parents and her husband had to die.

Later she met Shri Mahaprabhuji and requested what should be her goal then Shri Mahaprabhuji asked her to do Krishna Seva she said since most of the vaishnavs are doing it so she would prefer to do HIS seva.

Shri Mahaprabhuji presented her with his footprints on a piece of cloth and told her to serve them. This lady vaishnav started doing seva as per her Guru' Agya.

One day when she went to fetch some Jul from Yamunaji she saw four swarupas of Lord Krishna

Shri Gokul Chandramaji, Shri Ladleshji, Shri LalitaTribhangiji and Shri Navneetpriyaji She took all the swarupas and gave it to Shri Mahaprabhuji
Those stories were discussed previously.

Now who is next ? Very Happy Haha-----

Jai Shree Krishna

Palnaji, you are very charming and I am copying Inaxiji question on asking you whether you have been to Nandgao lately? Yey Sunitaji, glad you are back, we missed you. Anyways ill continue with Indravaliji’s varta, have to say that it is much better when hearing it from Pusthidasji in satsang.

One morning Indravaliji was told by her mother in law to go and fetch some water. She took a water pot and started walking towards the river. Upon arrival she filled the pot with water and whilst walking back she suddenly started getting wet, she took the pot from her head and after a quick glance she saw holes on the outside. She was a bit shocked as she was sure when she picked the pot initially it was in good condition. Bit confused she went back home and fetched another pot, the same thing happened again. This occurred several times and then she started doubting Thakorji so she went home once again and this time she got hold of a metal pot. She filled the pot up with water and was smiling to herself on her return walk, when reaching she found only fishes in the pot. Her mother in Law was shouting at her for damaging so many pots and not being able to fulfil such a small task.

All upset she went to see Thakorji and asked what he wanted from her in order for her to be able to take some water home , he said that he wanted her to sit on his lap and feed him makhan as well as kiss Madhusudan three times. Madhusudan was not a very attractive boy and possessed quite a few spots which were huge and red. Indravaliji looked at Madhusudan who was grinning at Thakorji’s proposal and was ready to kiss her. She thought to herself that there was no way she was kissing that boy. She went to Chandravaliji and told her everything that had happened; in return she gave Indravaliji an idea to smear turmeric and chilli powder mixed with glue on her face so Madhusudan would not even want to kiss her.

So both of them got together and smeared it all over her face and lips, it was burning her face but she didn’t care as long as she didn’t have to kiss him. She filled a plate of makhan and along with Chandravaliji went to see Thakorji. Upon arrival she took the plate out and as she was about to feed him, he stopped her. He asked her what she had on her face and complained that he is not going to eat makhan with the risk of that stuff falling into his food.

She looked at Chandravaliji and they discussed that she will wash her face and feed Thakorji then quickly before Madhusudhan can get to her Chandravaliji will smear the paste all over her face again. Reluctantly she went to the “kund” (sort of mini reservoir) and washed her face. She started feeding Thakorji with her hands and every time she looked at the plate she found that the amount of makhan she had placed on there initially remained the same. The makhan wasn’t finishing and she was getting tired of feeding him, our Thakorji was happily eating away. After a while he complained that he was thirsty. She was getting worked up but she had to do as she was told, as she was filling up some water from the kund Madhusudan managed to get hold of her and kissed her passionately. Afterwards she felt absolutely disgusted and Madhusudan looked like he had won the lottery and as he was about to kiss for the second time, she managed to get out of his grip and ran back to Thakorji with some water.

After Thakorji drank some water he winked at her and said please continue with the feeding as I am hungry. By the look on her face Thakorji could tell she wanted to yell at him and chuck that plate on his face but she had to carry on. Time was passing by and she was exhausted but the Makhan wasn’t finishing………………………. Laughing

Ill continue with the story tomorrow as it is quite long; please feel free to correct any mistakes

Jai Shree Krishna to all Vallah Vaishnavs

Thanks Trushnaji, cannot wait to read your varta so will finish this one off,

Indravaliji got to a point where she couldn’t take it any longer and said to Thakorji please let me go. He said ok you can stop feeding me makhan but you must still kiss Madhusudan twice. She said please don’t make me kiss that hideous boy, ill do anything else. He whispered fine then start dancing and keep it up until I play my flute. So there she was dancing away in the middle of the village. All the Brajvasi’s came out of their houses and were staring at her in complete amazement. They started gossiping amongst each other and concluded that she had gone completely insane; it was a disgrace that a married woman was exploiting her body like that in front of everyone.

All of a sudden the mother in law noticed Indravaliji and went mad, she was telling her to stop but Indravaliji seemed oblivious to her cry and carried on dancing. Then swiftly Thakorji pointed his flute on Indravaliji and she fell on top of Madhusudan who had been standing beside her all this time. He waved his flute again and this time both of them started kissing. Sasuji looked horrified and was trying to push them apart but their lips seemed glued together. The mother in law was shouting and saying what sins she must have committed to have a daughter in law like this. Thakorji said to her that it seems both of them have gone completely crazy, we will take Madhusudan to the doctors and you take Indravaliji home and try and sort her out.

As soon as he grabbed Madhusudan’s hand, he let go off Indravaliji and she looked completely stunned. Madhusudan was taken to the doctors' for treatment and Indravaliji was dragged home by her mother in law. Upon reaching home she told her son (Indravaliji's husband) the full story; both got together and started scolding her really badly. Indravaliji didn’t know what to say and was staring towards the window, all of a sudden she saw Thakorji smiling at her. She folded both her hands and looked at him with apologetic eyes, he gestured towards her to bang her head on the wall three times.

Indravaliji was a very clever gopi and starting crying and said I am so sorry I cannot believe I have done this, I deserve to die, This way she banged her head on the wall 3 times and then looked at Thakorji, he told her to do it again.

This time she started screaming whilst she was crying and said she deserved to go to hell and again banged her head on the wall three times.

At that instance time was turned back as if nothing had ever happened…………………………… Cool

Piece of advice…………………..Don’t make Thakorji cry Wink

Jai Shree Krishna,

Whilst reading the following varta a few questions arose in my mind;

Haridas

He asked Shree Gusainji if he could learn the Bhagvad so was sent to Krishna Bhatt, Krishna Bhatt started on the section where the yogi Uddhava meets the gopis, Haridas could not contain the force of the teachings so fell unconscious. When he woke Krishna Bhatt told him he can’t continue to teach him as he will leave his body and then what will shree Gusainji say?

It is explained that Haridas's devotion was not fully ripened so he could not contain the nectar of Krishna Bhatt’s teachings. When Haridas went back to Shree Gusainji and asked what had happened, Shree Gusainji remained silent.

Does it just mean that he was not ready to go UP? Does it mean that if he heard more he would get the nectar? Or does it mean he wasn’t good enough at that stage? It’s a little confusing, and the next one is;

A bhakta left a rupee for Shree Gusainji, when he returned it was moved, he asked Haridas and he said that he moved it and put it on a shelf. Shree Gusainji said" don’t ever touch money" and he understood

Find this confusing as in what the reason was.... don’t touch HIS money, or money in general? He moved it didn’t really take it? So what did he understand?

Vaishnavs please helps me clear these confusions.

Thanking you in advance

Jai Shree Krishna

Vallah vaishnavs, where are you all hiding????? Come on, I am sure everybody reads the 252 varta and has some idea of the siddhants taught in these stories.

I'll start off by putting down my own thoughts on Tibari, as in what I think this varta is trying to tell us vaishnavs. I could be completely wrong so please do correct me if I am going down the wrong track.

I think Haridas fell unconscious as the jump was too high, as he was a new to the Bhagvad he needed some lighter education at first and then slowly go to higher levels of teachings. Like we start of at infant school then move to primary school, etc

Thakorji’s lila are extraordinary and you need to get to a certain level by doing lots of bhakti and surrender ship to assimilate these into your chit.

As Pusthidasji has described in Gopigeet, the gopi’s had to go through a number of stages before they finally attained the param fal in Maharaas. It all happened
gradually and step by step.

When Gusainji told him not to touch money it could be because wealth can cause a lot of problems. If wealth is not used for alokik reasons it can become a hindrance in seva and can divert you mind into the materialistic world.

Also that money was in his guru’s home and one should never touch guru’s wealth. Even though he only moved it, he had still touched his guru’s wealth.

Sorry Palnaji, these are just a few thoughts, vaishnavs please elaborate or correct my mistakes

Thanks

Jai Shri Krishna,

just a few thoughts to add to what has already been said in the previous post.

1) The example of a half-baked earthen pot is often quoted in this instance. If the pot is not baked properly it will remain soft and when filled with liquid (water) the water will break and the water will leaq out.
- Haridasji's situation (as ours) was like this pot. Although he had the desire and inquisitiveness to learn and contain the essence of Shrimad Bhagvatam, he was not ready for it fully (he was half baked), in the sence that he had not learnt all the lessons of bhakti/pushtimarg thoroughly and hence he had some negative points (loosely speaking we can say these were the effects of his karmas/doshes from past life which he had yet to burn off). Hence Shri Gusainji sent him to Krishna Bhattji.

2) Regarding handling money... In this case Haridasji was given the instructions not to handle money because he was a fairly new to the maarg and as mentioned above he was half-baked, so the mind can easily get distracted seeing something like money... and then his mind would deviate away from Thakorji and go into money which is sansaar/maya. This applies to any wealth/money, not just Guru's money.... Also Shri Gusainji would have instructed accordingly in the varta, if it applied to only Guru's money. I think in this instance Shri Gusainji would have seen Haridasji's position in life (as to what rules/regulations apply to him as per his family lineage, and perhaps even actions/reactions of his previous birth) as well as his spiritual advancement before giving him such instructions. (A doctor prescribes medication after thoroughly checking the patient's health and living conditions)
