Jai Shri Krishna

Thank you for the encouragement Sunitaji.

The pads of Chaturbhujdasji increase the dedicated love for Shri Thakorji in the devotees’ hearts.

Pad 13

Chittme Shri Yamunaa nisdin ju raakho,
Bhakt ke vash, krupaa karat hai sarvadaa; aeso ShriYamunaajiko he ju saakho ||1||

Jaa mukh te Shri Yamune yah naam aave sang keeje ab jay taako;
Chaturbhujdas ab kahat hai sabanso, taate Shri Yamune-Yamune ju bhaakho ||2||

Vivechan:
When a devotee focuses on Shri Yamunaji with love, then even Shri Yamunaji stays in such devotee’s mind. She is beloved of Thakorji and removes all the obstacles of the devotees. What more can a devotee ask for; in whose mind Shri Yamunaji is residing?

If one is not able to take Yamunaji’s name every day, at least think about Her with love. Shri Yamunaji has such immense love towards Her devotees that She graces them irrespective the nature and circumstances of the devotees.

How does She bestow such grace? Ardent devotee (bhagvadiya) constantly indulges in chanting Her name and singing Her glories. She ensures that the devotee attains company of such ardent devotee. Thus She removes the obstacles of the devotee in taking Her name regularly.

Another pad of Chaturbhujdasji explains the bhaav of the above pad further

Shri Yamunaa naam sambhaare, je koi ShriYamuna naam sambhaare;
Taako daras paras koi karhee, vaahee ko ve tare. ||1||

Bhaktiko mahimaa varanee shake kou, yam haa haa karee hare;
Chaturbhujdas prabhu giridharanlaalko, nitya prati vadan nihaare. ||2||

The ardent devotee mentioned in this pad are graced by Shri Yamunaji. She has bestowed Her nectar in these devotees. If a devotee attains company of such ardent devotee, there is nothing left to be done by the devotee. Chaturbhujdasji says that the only duty of the pushti devotees is to continuously chant Her name.

Jai Shri Krishna

I agree with you Sunitaji. It makes a big difference when we understand beautiful meanings of these pads.

Pad 14

Praanpati viharat Shri Yamunaji koole,
Lubdh makarandke, bhramar jyo bas bhaye; dekh ravi uday maano kamal foole. ||1||

Karat gunjaar murali ju le saanvaro; sunat brajbadhu tan sudh ju bhule;
Chaturbhujdas Shri Yamune prem sindhume; laal Giridharanvar harakhi zule. ||2||

Vivechan:
Once the devotee has established love for Shri Thakorji, then by the grace of Shri Yamunaji, the devotee receives the divine body for seva. As the progression of devotion continues, the devotee, who is blessed by Shri Yamunaji, is able to achieve dedicated attachment (aasakti). After this point, the devotee is able to get the darshan of the leelas! In this pad Chaturbhujdasji explains how Thakorji bestows bliss to the devotees who have received the grace of Shri Yamunaji.

As a small child, Thakorji donated divine love to Braj devotees. Then He exhibited His powers by killing various demons and dancing on the hoods of Kaliya snake (pramey leelas). These leelas were performed to strengthen the faith and love of His devotees. When Shri Thakorji started cowherding leela then the gopis spent the day thinking about Him and singing His praises. Soon they reached the state of dedicated attachment (aasakti) where they just could not bear the pangs of separation from Shri Thakorji even for a moment. So Shri Thakorji bestowed nectar to them via the enticing music of His flute. This led gopis to sing venu-geet.

Bliss-personified Thakorji roams on the banks of Shri Yamunaji (adhi-bhautik form) with Shri Yamunaji (adhi-daivik form). The bliss of Shri Yamunaji merges in the bliss of Shri Thakorji. Just like a lotus blossoms with the sun rise, so too Thakorji’s lovely face becomes even more radiant when accompanied by Shri Yamunaji. Now when He plays His enchanting flute then the entire leela-world is soaked in the ultimate bliss. Just as the bees go to the blossomed lotus to enjoy the nectar so too the devotees gather around Thakorji to enjoy the divine nectar.

Shri Yamunaji is the inspirer, initiator and maintainer of such leelas. So in effect when Thakorji is enjoying leelas with the gopis, He is in fact enjoying in the ocean of love of Shri Yamunaji.

Jai Shri Krishna

Thak you your kind words, Sitalji and Sunitaji.

Pad 15

Vaaramvar Shri Yamune gungaan keeje,
Yehee rasanaa te bhajo naam-ras-amrut;
Bhaagya jaake he soee ju peeje. ||1||

Bhaanu-tanayaa dayaa ati hee karunaa mayaa,
Eenki kar aass, ab sadaa hee jeeje;
Chaturbhujdas kahe soee piy paas rahe,
Joee Shri Yamunaaji ke ras ju bheeje. ||2||

Vivechan:

Chaturbhujdasji says in this pad that once a devotee is attached to Thakorji, then he is qualified to receive the divine nectar and sing praises.

In pushtimarg, a devotee achieves the divine nectar only by the grace of Shri Yamunaji / Swaminiji. Without their grace, even the attachment to Thakorji remains just as an instrument. It does not become the fruit. Once the divine nectar is bestowed on the devotee, it is the duty of the devotee to sing glories of Shri Yamunaji again and again. The devotee should imbibe in the divine nectar of Her name. Only lucky person is able to enjoy this nectar.

Shri Yamunaji, daughter of Sun-god is very kind. She does not look at the quality of the jeev while donating divine bliss and experiences. So to obtain the divine bliss, a devotee should only rely on Her grace and spend the life. A devotee who is soaked in the beautiful form of Shri Yamunaji is dear to Thakorji. Thakorji bestows bliss on such devotees just like gopis and admits them in His leelas.

Jai Shri Krishna

Thank you for your kind words Vasantji.

Pad 16

Het kari det Shri Yamune vaas kunje,
Jahaa nisvaasar raas me rasikvar; kahaa lag baraniye prem-punje. ||1||

Thakit sarita-neer thakit varjvadhu bheer, kou na dharat dheer, muralee sunije;
Chaturbhujdas Yamune pankaj jaani, madhup kee naayee chhitt laay gunje. ||2||

Vivechan:
Once the devotee has been bestowed with nectar, he is eligible to enter in the nitya leela with this mortal body on this earth itself. This means Shri Yamunaji has blessed the devotee with the body fit for the experience of Thakorji’s leelas (tanunatva). In this way the devotee directly experiences Thakorji’s leelas. She loves Her devotees so much! This is why Chatubhujdasji says that “Het kari…”. She bestows Her grace on Her devotees and grants them a place in the kunj. In these kunjs Shri Thakorji, who is epitome of bliss, regularly performs various leelas with gopis who are embodiment of love.

When Thakorji plays His flute with special notes after enjoying various leelas with Shri Yamunaji then even the waters of Shri Yamunaji and all gopis become still. Oh, at such times, it is not possible to fathom if Thakorji will deluge the entire leela-world by the bliss. Chaturbhujdasji says that one can always enjoy this bliss by the unwavering dedication to Shri Yamunaji’s Lotus feet just like a bee is attracted to the lotus.

It may be possible to attain various states of love, dedication etc in other sects of Vaishnavs but the fruit of this experience of the divine nectar is possible only in the path of grace i.e. Pushtimarg which is explained by Mahaprabhuji. With other paths of devotion/realisation, it is possible to attain/experience Thakorji as described by the Vedas or His partial incarnations. But the blissful experience of Thakorji who is beyond the understanding of these worlds and Vedas is possible only by worthy pushti souls.

When Shri Mahaprabhuji celebrated Nand Mahotsav at Purushottam Sheth’s home, the entire leelas of the Saarasvat era (kalpa) appeared. Still Mahadevji received darshan only of the partial incarnations that appeared in the other eras. Shrinathji refused to grant darshan of the leelas with vraj-bhaktas to Krushna Bhatt. Shri Gusaiji still bestowed His grace and enabled Krushna Bhatt to see these leelas. Even today there are bhagvadiyas on this earth who experience Thakorji’s leelas. Indeed Shri Mahaprabhuji is bliss in the solid form and Shri Yamunaji is bliss in the liquid form.

Thanks YOU Sunitaji Very Happy

Pad 17

Bhakt par kari krupaa Shri Yamune ju aisee,
Chhandi nij dhaam vishraam bhootal kiyo; prakat leela dikhaayee ju tesee. ||1||

Param paramaarath karat he sabanko, det adbhut roop aap jesee;
Nanddaas yo jaanee dadh kari charan gahe, ek rasanaa kahaa kaho visesee. ||2||

Vivechan:

Shri Yamunaji came and resided on this earth along with the pushti souls who have been sepearated from the nitya leela. She loves Her devottes so mcuch that She does not leave Her devotees even for a moment. In this pad, Nanddasji describes the special grace in the form of nectar bestowed on the devotees.

She also made the bodies of Her devotees aloukik (tanunatva). This means that She gave the form similar to Hers to Her devotees. She does not expect anything nor does She wait for any means. She is happy in happiness of Thakorji and the devotees (tat-sukh). The souls are not able to perform seva properly, they are not fit enough to receive the bliss, they have plenty of faults in them but by Her infinite grace, the souls become eligible to experience the ultimate bliss.

Nanddasji proclaims firm shelter in Shri Yamunaji’s lotus feet and further adds that it is not possible to describe Her grace by this one tongue.

Jai Shri Krishna

Please don't thank me Sitalji... I am merely a translator.

Dear Vaishnavs,
I have been asked a question about the following sentence for the translation of pad 16.

"Indeed Shri Mahaprabhuji is bliss in the solid form and Shri Yamunaji is bliss in the liquid form."

I have been asked to explain this sentence. As I am just a starter on this path of Grace, my understanding is very limited. Will someone kindly elaborate on this?

Jai Shri Krishna

As we have not received any responses Sad I will put my understanding here for the question. I request other Vaishnavs to correct my understanding or expand it further.

In our Pushtimarg, there is no difference between Thakorji, Mahaprabhuji and Yamunaji.

Thakorji is bliss personified. Gusaiji has described Mahaprabhuji's names in Sarvottam Strotra as "Ananday", "Paramananday" and so on. Mahaprabhuji appeared on this earth in human (solid) form.

Yamunaji's jal has the bliss in them; "smar shram...". It is a well known fact that it is very easy to please Mahaprabhuji and Yamunaji. If one takes shelter in them. They definitely bestow their grace and admit the soul in leela by their power. That is why it is said Mahaprabhuji is bliss in solid form and Yamunaji is bliss in liquid form.
